About
As a designer, I’m interested in color, light, material, and structure. By using these elements together, I hope to create unobtrusive yet impactful work that uses color and light to evoke emotional responses while highlighting material and structure in innovative ways. My process often involves thinking about materiality before the function or form of the object. My goal in my final work is to highlight the materials through their narratives and opportunities to transform. As I explore with these elements, I hope to create materials that people cherish and value.
A note on sustainability:
Growing up in Maine and spending much of my time on the ocean and in the mountains has grounded an appreciation for the outdoors and the pristine landscape. My drive to design is connected to the opportunity to maintain this landscape with understanding ways to design smarter. I’m dedicated to discovering new solutions to create less disruptive products for our environment. Through studying the theories of sustainability, I understand this is a complicated issue that will take consistent effort and questioning to fully implement within my design practice. Although I’m at the beginning of this journey I will continue to investigate new low impact materials, explore ways to recycle existing resources, and innovate better solutions. I believe the design industry has an incredible opportunity to be a part of this change and I intend to be a part of it.
